Knowledge is Power.
The greatest thing about knowledge is that no one can take it away from you.
Even if you lost everything, you will never loose your innate capabilities and mental toolkit to get you back on track.
Health is Wealth.
This is another key principle I live by.
In this case, external factors such as the environment to strangers can sadly play an impact on your overall health and influence you to do things that you never wished you tried having to deal with large medical bills and ailments down the line.
Thankfully though, you have more control over your health than you may assume and it starts with what you mentally and physically consume.
What we consume, we become.
Although the brain represents only 2% of a personâs total body weight, it accounts for 20% of the bodyâs energy use!
The healthier you are, the more strength, energy, power, resilience, metal stamina, dedication, commitment, patience, stoicism, preparation, and power you can expend which can directly translate to massive wealth.
Of course, thatâs a choice. If youâre a wolf on wall street consuming 6 coffees a day, spoking pot, working hard in the wrong way and partying too hard, you will eventually burn out and suffer the ailments and repercussions soon after in terms of your reputation and body.
We shouldnât be looking up to media moguls and titans like Elon on the way we live either. We know it isnât realistic or reasonable to sleep in a factory and work 18 hour days. No doubt he has impressive wealth as the richest man alive but who knows how healthy he really is and long he will live.
No day is guaranteed.
Working hard is useless without your health. You want to savor it by being smart with both.
Be aggressive with your wealth and risk adverse with your health. Without your health you have truly nothing and it becomes the only thing you think about if it is downhill.
Follow Yourself
Following habits successful people follow wonât make you automatically successful. You do you. It has to work for you in the end. You wonât become anyoneâs twin or clone following their practices.
Iâm assuming most of us want to become our very best selves and see what we can accomplish with our finite time here on earth but the problem is, it doesnât seem like we yearn to. We are bad at forecasting and predicting the future so much so that we resist healthy prudent practices to benefit our future selves and give into the temptation today instead.
Whenever you are doubtful and attempting to resist the easy comfortable choice today, look up to your future self. Would they be impressed by your decision? If so, carry on. If not, remember you are fighting this battle of life between yourself. Where you are today is based on the choices youâve made in your life. No one else is to blame. If you put in the work, the work will work for you and that starts with making long-term decisions that will benefit your future self.
Everything you give up today and every excuse you make is simply disappointing your future self even more.
This is the motto I repeat to myself each morning, yes even on holidays and especially on weekends at 6am. Do I love working out and waking up at the crack of dawn when itâs pitch black outside and currently freezing?
Heck no, but do I feel my very best afterwards and ready to tackle the day feeling accomplished?
Absolutely and I wouldnât trade that uncomfortable feeling for the world!
Sacrifice brings greatness folks. Mind over matter.
Become comfortable with the uncomfortable for real growth. Stop focusing on the top .01% habits and focus on what makes you the best version of yourself.
Feeling the Results
Nothing will come without action.
You donât have to be a health freak to the point where it consumes your life but you do have to manage what you consume on that nuclear weapon, your device and in that tummy. How you treat yourself is also key. Being grateful, appreciative, down to earth, present, and reflective offers a plethora of benefits and allow you to build up that mental stamina to be more physically active.
Comparing health to wealth, there is a direct invisible correlation between the two. Sure there are outliers that somehow get away with eating McDonals and are sedentary all day and are earning billions but majority of the people we look up to prioritize themselves.
Being selfish is key here. Taking uninterrupted time for yourself will propel your future. Funny enough, real estate is a good indicator of how healthy someone is as well. Iâve noticed variety of amenities such as gyms, spas, saunas, etc. are ubiquitous in luxury real estate property buildings in Manhattan since these units (apartments, studios, penthouses) are catered to the wealthy after all! The less expensive the property, the less likely the owners or the management company will be health-conscious. Even in homes, the higher the price point, the likelier a Peloton is parked somewhere in the basement! Speaking of Peloton, you can check out the CEOâs newly listed Hamptonâs home on the market. I guarantee you thereâs a full-on Peloton gym taking up two levels in there. It just doesnât come with physical coaches or motivation. As with happiness, you must find that inside.
To feel your best, you have to treat yourself like a king. Eating organic to exercising doesnât have to be expensive. If youâre in it to win it, you will always find a way. Wealth doesnât come to those who take short-cuts. They are creative and different in their approach to get what they want and most importantly what they DESERVE.
Raise the barbell and mental bar to get the life you deserve.
Although having the availability to exercise rain or shine with precious equipment in your building can elevate your adrenaline and pump you up to work out, not always especially if you are as busy as the wealthy.
Once you solidify one gig and land your big break, deals, partnerships, promotions, tours, the whole nine-yards start rolling in and it can be harder than ever to carve out the time to stay in shape the wealthier you get. Having a gym in your building or spending a couple thousand dollars on treadmill wonât make you automatically wealthier.
After all, it costs money to set up and takes time to do so, but if you put in that investment and stay dedicated just like to your craft, you will get in what you get out. But it takes time. Real time to see real results. Overnight success takes 10 years. Donât starve till you die or exercising 6 hours a day wonât help either. Make it manageable and part of your lifestyle.
80% diet, 20% exercise. If you know you donât feel good and are insecure, work on it. Thereâs no secret potion and no one can do it for you. Ditch the diets and stick to non-processed junk food online and on the shelves. Youâll feel better, look better, and do better.
I believe thereâs absolutely nothing more fulfilling than being able to achieve your goal through your hard earned sweat and tears. It is always possible with grit, dedication, stamina, and unwavering commitment even without the talent, IQ, and skills. Those things can be learned and arenât indicative of true success and certainly not health.
Never fail due to a lack of effort because effort requires no skill.
If youâre not failing, youâre not tyring hard enough. You will fail, you will see no results and you will want to give up. Itâs part of the process that we donât hear about enough. Curb that short attention span and look towards your future self.
Always take care of yourself mentally and physically, especially on the toughest days. Your brain is the powerhouse of your life. Without it, nothing can operate. Last weekend the NYC marathon reminded me as much as it is a grueling 26.2 miles, beyond the physical capabilities athletes must embrace, mental stamina is at the core.
Prove your inner critic wrong and be your loudest cheerleder. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. Health is wealth. We all have a finite time on earth and we have the ability to prolong it.
Grow your income by growing your mind, body, spirit, and time.Â
The best investment is in yourself.Â
Health should never be overlooked unless you choose to overlook yourself.
