💰The Real Reason Why Each Job Pays Differently

Well, there is an obvious answer.

More jobs require a variety of intellect, experience, and a bunch of other stuff that we actually really don’t know what of…

Don’t worry.

No one knows what it the rest is becuase we can never find it on the job description and employees don’t know either, they Just Do It (swoosh).

This is the number one question we always have about our dream position.

We don’t know what it involves but know it’s great to try to pursue becuase of one external, egotistical condition, sadly, the pay and title, of course.

These are the two driving factors for 87% of Americans when deciding upon a career path.

The reason being is becuase we want to:

  1. Gain approval from others from our salary to buy stuff
  2. Once again, impress others on our LinkedIn and at gatherings with our new title of CAOIDNW (Chief Accelerating Officer Of I Don’t Know What).

Doesn’t that just look impressive?

There is no question that each job demands different skills and as a result, we need to pass certain requirements, thresholds, and experience to obtain that position.

An Amazon delivery man who makes roughly minimum wage at $15 in NYC versus an investment banker at a prestigious, 18th-century bank on Wall Street, as an associate would make roughly $150k per year.

Of course, what differentiates these two deserving roles is the pay, the experience, and the expertise but is that all truly different?

Networking is crucial in the professional world.

It makes it more ‘convenient’ to find that job because we don’t want to hear that it helps boost the process but it certainly aids to retrieve the position much easier.

To work for Amazon as a delivery carrier, not an executive or high positioned employee, it is the same process applying to that company as with any other consulting or banking firm.

You don’t need to bother with referrals as a carrier because unless you aren’t an illegal immigrant and don’t have a criminal record and of course have a driver’s license and maybe a HS diploma, you most likely are hired.

They probably don’t’ even check how much weight you can carry, the most essential task of the job.

To gain a much higher position, you have to go through somewhat more training.

Risk-taking battling student loans, dealing with classes that you mgiht not like in college, making annoying decisions, and most importantly, waste precious time instead of working, or handling both.

This is a question that many of my peers still have but I definitely have a definite yes as an answer.

Is college worth it?

And I’m not going to pose this question into thin air because there are many reasons why it or might not be right for you but the way you approach that question will say a lot about your job.

With a degree, you have something to fall back on if your startup fails when you are 30 or you move to a different city and don’t have those referrals.

Yes, time is precious but it is also a commitment and is becoming an investment.

Of course, you learn and deal with tedious tasks at school all the time.

It isn’t there to aggravate you, even though we convince ourselves that’s the purpose.

Education is there to teach you how to get ahead, mentally not physically.

As your schooling and education get more advanced, the physical benefits decline, dramatically.

More Cokes, less treadmill.

A flat butt instead of biceps which you only get with manual labor these days.

Don’t get me wrong, you can be happy doing that but it is important to distinguish why you are paid less and if you want more, there will be sacrifices.

But pay will not make you happy and the folks at the 1% can attest to that the most.

A delivery boy has as many skills and competence as a Master’s student, but do they have the patience and agility to deal with mental, tedious tasks that require time wasted?

Anyone can learn how to curate presentations in Excel and learn SQL.

In fact, that is what new hirees are taught in their first few weeks of the job.

More school, yay?!

This shows they have the mental patience and grit to love the process of learning.

Social and communication skills are also as pertinent to note here.

They are almost as vital as hard skills because, without them, you aren’t able to execute on any deals, curate connections, finalize decisions, and in basic terms, get any efficient work done without knowing how to work in a team!

These are the lessons that we are taught as we learn to deal with wasted time and go through the slow and sometimes annoying process of learning.

Last week, I asked 2 friends at the start of the semester if they are taking any classes they enjoy or have any interest in.

They said they’ve never knew what the classes entailed when registering.

After their answer, they both told me to follow up with reasons why based on their answers.

That right there signified that they are able to do something others would give up on.

Let me explain.

I could sense that although they weren’t very studious and at this point when we need to take classes we aren’t that interested in, you can call us all un-studious, if that’s a word.

But what differentiated them was their appreciation for the school and being able to deal with the understanding that learning isn’t about studying everything you know or like, it is gaining a holistic approach to life.

They both told me: “I want to explore and take a requirement.”

The requirement isn’t the best answer but hey, at least they got it over with instead of at the very end.

That means they are up for the challenge.

A challenge early on will let you decide for yourself if your job is high paying or not, becuase that is all we, unfortunately, care about.

All jobs are special and the world wouldn’t work the same.

We all have different educational backgrounds and decisions to make when it comes to our future.

But bragging, being upset at yourself or judging others is not the way to go becuase you set this up for yourself.

Jobs require this thinking and the right mindset.

We are all humans who deserve recognition for all our tasks becuase jobs have a negative connotation.

Understanding what we can do to get back what we earned through achieving and focusing on these traits will put us in a better position down the road because, at the end of the day, anyone can be taught any hard skill, but soft skills and mentality, take a decade to sharpen not perfect.

You have to be in it for the long run, cheating will only make you worse.
